When Will Michael Ketterer Ne on Agt Again

Knoxville's Michael Ketterer performs in the "America's Got Talent" semifinals.

Michael Ketterer's nerves may have gotten to him during his performance in the "America's Got Talent" finals, but that didn't stop judge Simon Cowell from saying he'd love to be able to give the Knoxville contestant and his family $1 million.

"Look, it's got nothing to do with the golden buzzer thing Michael," said Cowell, who gave Ketterer his golden buzzer during the "AGT" auditions.

"This has been an unbelievable night. The talent's been amazing. It's the best final I've ever been on, and everyone's done an amazing job, but I'm just going to say how I feel because ... I'd love to be able to give your family a million dollars and a chance because you're just an amazing guy and so many people have spoken about you. You were nervous, but that makes you human and let's see what happens, but ... you're a great, great person Michael."

Ketterer dedicates his song to God

During the finals on Tuesday night, Ketterer sang a soft, soulful cover of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" with a piano and background vocals near the end.

"This song tonight I was dedicating that to my God because he really has moved mountains and parted seas," said Ketterer.

Like his previous performances on the show, the stripped down arrangement showcased his voice.

Along with Cowell, judges Mel B and Heidi Klum said they could tell Ketterer was nervous.

"I mean let's face it, that was a very brave thing to do. You stripped it all the way back. It was just you and the piano and your voice and that was it," said Mel B. "Now I'm not sure it completely 100 percent worked or it didn't work ... but I know you. I know your integrity, and I know your voice, but at the end of the day, it's not up to me. It's up to America, but well done for being that brave."

"I could hear your nerves today, but you are a man with a lot of heart," said Klum. "You are a man with a lot of integrity, and you're a man with a lot of talent, and I feel like this also could be a winning combination, so you never know."

Ketterer received a standing ovation from the judges and the crowd after his performance.

Nine other finalists, including magician Shin Lim, dance group Zurcaroh, aerialists Duo Transcend, comedians Samuel J. Comroe and Vicki Barbolak, violinist Brian King Joseph and fellow singers Daniel Emmet, Courtney Hadwin and Glennis Grace, performed on Tuesday.

A winner will be revealed during the live results show, which will air at 8 p.m. Wednesday on NBC, and receive the grand prize of $1 million and the chance to have a headline show in Las Vegas.

Ketterer is brought to tears

Before his performance, "AGT" showed a prerecorded segment of Ketterer walking into an empty room to watch a video.

The video showcased people he's made an impact on telling him how much he means to them. They included his six children, five of whom he and his wife Ivey adopted, children and parents he's helped as a pediatric mental health nurse at Children's Hospital of Orange County and couples he's given advice to as an adoptive parent.

Ketterer laughed and cried during the video and became more emotional when his kids spoke at the end of the video.
